There are reports reaching DailyReporters.ng, alleging plans to elect two grandfathers as the National President of the Ohafia Youth Association (OYA).

For the record, Mr. Ukariwe Godwin from Isugwu Ohafia and Mr. Uma Godwin from Asaga Ohafia are both grandparents and are believed to be above 60–65 years of age.

The Ohafia Youth Association was established to represent, empower, and advance the interests of the youth. It is therefore important that its leadership reflects the purpose and vision of the association. Leadership positions meant for the youth should be occupied by individuals who are actively within the youth demographic and can effectively represent the aspirations, energy, and challenges of young people.

We respectfully call on our traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, and members of the association to do the right thing by ensuring that qualified young people are given the opportunity to lead. This will encourage youth participation, promote inclusiveness, and preserve the integrity and original objectives of the association.

The future belongs to the youth, and they deserve the chance to shape it through responsible leadership.
